Monthly Main Meeting.
Saturday, April 18th 2026 7 pm
St Peter’s Church HallSubject:- A Cluttered and Noisy Sky
The number of satellites in orbit around the Earth has gone up sixfold in the last six years, and there could be as many as a million by the mid 2030s. This rush to deploy constellations of spacecraft – sometimes described as a new Wild West in space – threatens to do irreparable harm to astronomy, and to the view of the universe we too easily take for granted. Dr Massey works with partners in the UK and globally to protect the sky for astronomers, and for all of us.
Guest Speaker:- Robert Massey Deputy Executive Director of the Royal Astronomical Society
There won’t be a ZOOM call for this meeting. ZOOM will be back for the May main meeting.
